Find Event Space in Minneapolis - Ask MagicBrad

Where do you find the ideal event space in Minneapolis when you need it?

There are plenty of event spaces in Minneapolis if you know where to look, but you first need to know what you are looking for. Are you looking for private event space Minneapolis or can the space be open to the public. Do you need airport parking in Minneapolis and will you need an airport shuttle in Minneapolis too? Will your event require hotels in Minneapolis MN or are your guests driving in for your event and then driving out?

Do you need airports in Minneapolis nearby?

The idea of requiring airports in Minneapolis makes total sense when you event in a national event. But if it is primarily local Twin Cities attendance, then hotels in Minneapolis are probably not a big issue for you.

Will you be having live entertainment?

If your event is going to have live entertainment like a huge band then your Minneapolis event space will require the ability to set up for large speakers, staging and rigging. This type of event venue is going to be very different and unique.

Is there going to be a Keynote Speaker at your event?

The requirements for a speaker to be presenting at your event will be very different from a dance band or a magician entertaining. A speaker or presenter needs to be heard and also needs to be seen, so the audio sound system needs to be top-notch and the lighting needs to be sufficient to be seen easily. As a performing magician, I've had situations where the Event Planner thought they were doing me a favor by keeping the light dim so people could not see how the tricks are done.

Does the Event Venue have catering?

Before you commit to a specific event venue, do you plan on using their designated caterer, or did you plan on bringing in your own food and beverage? You better know if they even allow outside catering first? With food and beverage there are very strict health and safety regulations that need to be followed.

Are you aware of Food and Beverage Regulations?

A public event is very different compared to a private event. When the public is attending, the Minneapolis Health Inspectors will be involved. You will have loads of hoops to jump through. If this is the case, then you are probably much better off using a professional caterer that has the experience. So be sure your venue has good relationships with reputable caterers.

Where do you find Event Venues and Catering Companies?

Of course I am biased, but I think the best way to meet reputable businesses is live and in person, and the best place to do that is at the Minnesota Event Planners EXPO here in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
